Introducing the Vet Team
Evan David BVSc BA MRCVS (director)
Evan David was born in San Francisco, California, and grew up there until 1986 when the family moved to Aberdaron in North Wales for a year’s sabbatical. It was during this time he started working on a neighbouring beef and sheep farm, and continued to do this every summer until graduating from Liverpool University Veterinary School in 2003. During his studies at Liverpool much of his work experience took place on large Dairy Farms in Northern California, which is sometimes shortened to NorCal by locals. This was invaluable experience in modern, large scale dairy farming.
After graduating as a Vet from Liverpool, Evan’s first job was a farm vet in Somerset which he held for 2 years until he and his wife Clare decided to move back closer to family in Marlow. Evan then worked as a farm vet for Hall Place Vets in Marlow who were then bought out by Larkmead Veterinary Group shortly afterwards, hence his move there. Evan’s progressive, friendly, common sense, hands-on approach to veterinary work, won a lot of respect from the farming community in the area.
In 2010, Evan took an offer from H&C Pearce to open a large animal practice on their site. Evan founded NorCal Veterinary Services in November 2010 to provide farmers in the area with a high quality relationship-based veterinary service.
He is husband to Clare, and a Father to three (Sennen, Teal and Sky). Outside interests were football, water-skiing, surfing - he hopes to get back to these once his knee has recovered from the August 2013 cruciate rupture.
Piotr (Peter) Bogusiewicz MRCVS
Peter has joined us in March 2014. He was born and raised in Poland where he graduated in 2005. He came to England the same year and worked for FSA and a few practices around the country. His main area of professional interest is reproduction of animals. He lives locally with his wife and baby Adam born this year. Away from work, travelling, sport and baby, keeps him busy!!
Jo Card BSc BVSc MRCVS
Jo joined Norcal in October 2014 after working in mixed practice in the Cotswolds. She graduated in 2013 from the University of Liverpool and previous to this completed a degree in Animal Science at the University of Nottingham. Jo is a local girl, having grown up around Waddesdon, she knows the area well and is happy to be back practicing around home.
Jo has a keen interest in farm animal medicine and surgery, and also looks forward to putting her game bird knowledge to practice when the rearing season begins.
Outside work Jo keeps fit by going to bootcamp sessions and training for half marathons. She also enjoys catching up with friends over a good cup of tea, a biscuit or a large glass of wine after a hard day at work.
Charlotte Plummer BVSc MRCVS
Charlotte graduated from Bristol University in the summer of 2016 before joining Norcal as her first job. Originally from a dairy farm in Wiltshire she has always liked cows! She enjoys all aspects of farm animal work and is looking forward to getting stuck in with all species. In her spare time she enjoys trampolining and playing netball and has recently joined Henley Young Farmers.
John McDonnell MRCVS
John was born and raised in Ireland. He Graduated from University College Dublin in 1978. From 1978-1986 he worked in various mixed practices in both Ireland and England.
From 1986 - February 2010 he and his wife (also a Vet) established and owned a highly successful practice in West London with two other partners. The practice rapidly expanded to seven branch practices. They sold the majority of the business this year to spend more time on the farm.
John and his wife live locally on a small farm. They have a fantastic herd of pedigree Hereford cattle and a small flock of commercial ewes.
John will be working on busier days. He will be going round with Evan for a week in November to get his bearings in the area. He will bring a wealth of experience and we are delighted to have him on board. Please give him your usual warm welcome on your farms.
Clare David BVSc MRCVS
Clare David graduated from the University of Liverpool in Veterinary Science in 2003. She has worked in predominantly small animal practice since. She is currently at home looking after the children and running the household. She will be playing a supportive role within the practice and looking after any dog/cat/pet veterinary issues. Game clients may meet her when vaccinating their dogs. She will be supporting Evan on some larger jobs ie routine TB testing. Clare is a keen horse rider, and loves being outdoors but since having three children Sennen (7) ,Teal (4) and Sky (2) horse riding has had to take a back seat.
Support staff: Dawn Taylor and Fiona Short
Dawn and Fiona are responsible for the drug orders and general administration duties in running the office in Thame. Dawn has been an invaluable staff member since the business was set up. Dawn is a local farmer wife, with extensive farm knowledge and experience. Fiona finished university in June 2014 after getting an FdSc in Agriculture. She worked on various dairy farms since getting involved in farming 4 years ago, and has an interest in cattle and calf rearing.
