Beef Suckler Herd Health

With the decoupling of subsidies, it is more important than ever that beef enterprises are highly efficient.  In order to cope with increased feed costs, and reducing subsidies, suckler farmers must:

  • Maximise kg of calf sold per cow per year
  • Maximise value of every calf sold
  • Minimise losses

At NorCal Veterinary services we work closely with farmers to maximise profitability by minimising losses through disease and maximising reproductive efficiency.

We are able to advise on many areas of beef suckler production including:

  • Cow nutrition, using body condition and fertility
  • Heifer rearing
  • Avoiding difficult calvings
  • Housing and environment
  • Disease prevention
  • Summer mastitis
  • Calf scour, calf Pneumonia
  • Parasite control
  • BVD, IBR, Leptospirosis, Campylobacter
